To help ensure that your winter riding experience is as good as it can through the snow and sleet we have put together some tips for you to survive the elements. So lets begin
Are you looking for some great accessories for your bike if so check out our guide here
1. Wash Your Bike Rack
Firstly never ever put your rack through a drive through car washer, or obviously have it on the back of your car and take it with you through the wash, this will mess up your bike rack and knock years off its life, seriously never do that
Now thats out the way, we would say just use your own hands and put some elbow grease into it and wash your bike rack by hand. We would recommend some simple spray you can get here on amazon check below for its latest price.
With this and a simple cloth its by far the most effective way to clean your bike rack, not to mention the safest.
2. Take your bike rack off when you are now using it
This may seem a simple idea, but if you are not using it, take it off carefully pack it away in a dry spot in your garage. Simple things like this can add years on to your bike rack, rather than having it on your car 24/7 take some time to take the thing off when you are not using it.
3. Check for Damage
Just like anything keep an eye on it, and if you see any chip or damage, sort it out! Don’t leave damage because something simple like a scratch may rust out and ruin your bike rack if you leave it be. So keep an regular eye out on your bike rack. So that a small bit of damage doesn’t become something that ruins it, and so you can deal with the issue while its smaller.
4. Lube the Locks for Longevity
Like your bicycle chain, the lock on your bicycle rack can incur significant damage after being exposed to the elements. So what would you do with your bike? Well of course oil those joints and locks, its simple but a very effective method that will add years to your bike rack. For this we would say that this wd-40 is the a great option, as it can be used on your bike too. Check out its latest price on amazon.
5. Wash Your Car
Keeping your car clean will help keep your bike rack clean, basically meaning less grime and dirt on your bike rack. So keep that car of yours in good condition if you can. Because if you have a filthy car, this will basically mean a filthy bike rack and that ruins it lifespan.
